Headless HRMS / Zero UI Architecture

A new software category. First in the world.

Architected HONO AI Zero UI — the world's first Headless HRMS. Decoupled the entire HRMS backend from any fixed interface. Users interact through conversation; the Intelligent Execution Engine dynamically selects and fires APIs based on intent.

Impact: Launched publicly: May 7, 2026. New product category established.

PHP → Modern Stack Migration

The foundation nobody talks about

Migrated HONO's entire production HRMS from a legacy PHP monolith to a modern, composable stack (React 18 + Vite, MUI, Node.js, Apollo GraphQL, AWS VPC) serving 300+ enterprise clients across Asia — zero downtime, zero client churn.

Impact: SOC2 Type 1 & 2 compliance achieved. Platform now capable of supporting AI-native architecture.

Gen AI & Agentic AI — Embedded, Not Bolted On

First principles AI inside the product

Designed and implemented HONO's full AI pipeline: LLM-based recruitment intelligence (JD Builder, Resume Parsing, Matching, Ranking), GPT-powered HR chatbot, Payroll & Payslip insights engine, Succession Planning AI, and LMS analytics.

Impact: AI as the execution layer, not the assistance layer. Every AI feature changes state, not just surfaces information.

MCP Integration Layer

One interface. Every enterprise system.

Built HONO's Model Context Protocol topology — native MCP servers for payroll, workforce, employee data, and notifications, plus third-party integrations with ServiceNow, Oracle Fusion, HubSpot, and major payroll platforms used in HRMS workflows.

Impact: Any MCP-compliant enterprise system can now interact with HONO through a single conversational layer.

The Arc

Career Narrative

Before I left Ramco, Virender Aggarwal retired. He had been CEO for a decade, and the person who backed my Innovation Lab work in Singapore from the very start. The new management was excellent. The modern stack I helped architect was shipping. But something inside had shifted. I could feel myself drifting from the innovation work that had defined me. Ramco wanted me back at the core team in Chennai. I wanted to stay in Singapore, the kind of place that thinks about what's next every day.

Virender, still my closest mentor, called. He was advising a startup. “Not Ramco size. The journey will be turbulent.” I said yes. HONO had quietly built a complete end-to-end HRMS while bigger companies were still arguing about modules. That was the move I needed.

The Zero UI conviction came months later. My own engineers had stopped writing code by hand. They were chatting with Claude and Cursor instead. And I couldn't shake the question: if developers won't click anymore, why should HR users? That question became a product category.

Where I'm strongest

  • Lightweight execution at scale

Frameworks that ship products through startup chaos. 40-plus engineers across Full Stack, AI/ML, Security, Infrastructure, and Product Analysis stay coordinated without slowing down.

  • Innovation that lands in production

Seven years at Singapore's EDB-funded Innovation Lab taught the difference between impressive demos and AI that changes how an enterprise actually runs.

  • Category creation through architecture

Zero UI didn't start as a feature. It started as a conviction about how enterprise software should work. Three years later, that conviction shipped as the world's first Headless HRMS.

Ramco Systems

Core ERP Technology → Innovation Lab

Joined Ramco Systems in Chennai, India as part of the core ERP engineering team. Spent the first six years there deep in enterprise-grade payroll, HR, and ERP architecture — building systems that ran at scale across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

Relocated to Singapore at year six. Was handed something rare: a blank canvas with budget. Appointed to lead Ramco's Innovation Lab in Singapore — co-funded by Singapore's Economic Development Board (EDB) — with a mandate to explore what AI and emerging technology could do for enterprise software.

  • HR — intelligent workforce planning, anomaly detection in payroll
  • Aviation — predictive maintenance, turnaround optimization
  • Logistics — route intelligence, demand forecasting
Guided throughout by Virender Aggarwal, then-CEO of Ramco Systems — whose confidence in the work remains a defining professional relationship.

Leaving certainty for conviction

Head of Disruptive Technologies → Architect of Transformation

After 13 years, left one of Asia's most respected ERP companies to join a startup with a bold thesis: that enterprise HR software was fundamentally limited at the interface layer, not the logic layer.

Joined HONO AI as Head of Disruptive Technologies with a mandate to drive AI for making a future-ready HR solution. Within months, an opportunity knocked: transform the entire PHP stack product to a modern architecture that could survive for a decade.

Mukul Jain, Founder of HONO.AI, gave me the opportunity to build a world-class HRMS product. Virender Aggarwal, also an advisor and board member at HONO, continued to encourage and guide the vision.

HONO AI

Rebuilding from the ground up. Then reinventing the category.

Inherited a mature PHP-based HRMS stack serving 300+ enterprise clients. Led the full migration to a modern architecture — React 18, Node.js, Apollo GraphQL, Sequelize ORM, AWS VPC — without dropping a single client.

Then went further. Embedded Generative AI and Agentic AI inside the product — not as a chatbot wrapper, but as the execution layer. Built on Python, FastAPI, and Transformers, powered by self-hosted open-source LLMs and cloud providers (AWS Bedrock, Anthropic Claude, Azure AI). Designed the dual-model routing architecture (classifier + executor), built the MCP server topology, and architected Zero UI: a Headless HRMS where HR operations run through natural language, with no interface required.

  • Keynote speaker at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Session on AI in HR — September 2025, eight months before the public Zero UI launch
  • Elevated to Co-Founder in October 2025 in recognition of the product transformation delivered
  • Added 11 new payroll countries in the last 12 months under direct ownership — Kenya, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, Zambia, DRC, Nigeria, Ghana, Jordan
  • Briefed Gartner analysts on HONO's AI-in-HR architecture (2026)
  • SOC2 Type 1 + Type 2 maintained with zero findings carried into 2026 — enterprise compliance posture preserved through the entire platform rewrite
  • Leads 40+ engineering organisation spanning Full Stack, AI/ML, Security, Infrastructure, and Product Analysis
  • Now actively working with investors on HONO's next round for global expansion

Team & Leadership Philosophy

Leads a 40+ person engineering organisation spanning Full Stack, AI/ML, Security, Infrastructure, and Product Analysis — with deep HRMS domain knowledge embedded across every layer. The team is predominantly Gen Z — a generation often labelled 'difficult' in enterprise environments. The approach here is the opposite: treat them as the most technically curious, purpose-driven workforce in the industry. Give them ownership, not tasks.
